Exhibition & Auction Fundraiser

OVERVIEW

The Small but Mighty 8x8 Exhibit, Auction and Fundraiser, features small works with a big impact—original 8x8 inch artworks created and donated by local professional, emerging, and youth artists. All work will be exhibited in the SAC Gallery and auctioned online to raise funds in support of the Suwanee Arts Center’s mission.

Fundraiser Period: August 9 – 23, 202

 

Goal: Raise funds to support SAC’s exhibitions, educational programming, and artist opportunities in the North Atlanta Metro Area.

 

Key Dates & Timeline

  • Call for Artists Opens: June 1, 2025
     

  • Art Drop-Off Deadline: July 29–30, 2025
     

  • Gallery Exhibition Dates: August 9 – August 23, 2025
     

  • Opening Reception + Live Auction Kickoff: Saturday, August 9, 2025
     

  • Online Auction Closes: Saturday, August 23, 2025

  • Winners contacted: August 25-27, 2025
     

Opening Reception: Auction Kickoff Event

Saturday, August 9, 2025  ~ 12:00–5:00 PM

All artworks will be available via a live online auction platform 

  • Bidding opens during the August 9 Reception
     

  • Bidding closes at 5:00 PM on August 23
     

  • Winning bidders will be contacted for pickup from August 25–27
     

Sales & Pricing

  • All work will start at $50 in the online auction.  Unless a minimum bid is requested by the artist. 
     

  • Bidders may increase bids throughout the exhibition period.
     

  • Artists can opt to receive 15% of the final bid to offset material costs if desired.  (Bid is $100, artist receives $15)

CRITERIA

  • Artist Participation Process
    To ensure effective planning and promotion, we ask artists to pre-commit the number of works they intend to submit (up to 4).
    Commitment can be made via:

  • All participants are required to complete a participation/ donation slip to accompany the artwork. Available below

  • Suggested media - includes but is not limited to:  oil, watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil, mixed media, printmaking, photography (on canvas or mounted on media board), fiber art, three-dimensional art, including ceramics, pottery, woodworking, metal, and sculpture. Let your imagination run wild, but small 8x8. 

  • The subject matter of the submitted artwork is open to the artist's discretion.

  • The face and all 4 sides of the canvas should be painted or finished – materials (oils, adhesives, etc) MUST be completely dry before delivering your canvas to us.

  • Entries must not violate copyright laws.

  • All accepted artwork should be hand delivered to Suwanee Arts Center with a legible identification label. Labels should include the artist’s name, Title, and Medium.

  • Artists should know that we appreciate their donations of art.

  • Diptychs and triptychs are allowed but should collectively fit within 8x8 or use the 8x8 repeatedly.  I.e., hinge two 8x8’s together.

     

Artist Promotion

Artists are encouraged to include contact info or a website link with their work for promotional purposes in:

  • Online listings

  • Event signage

  • Social media features
