The Suwanee Arts Center (SAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization dedicated to promoting the appreciation of local art through exhibition, festivals and other arts education. Based in Suwanee, Georgia, the SAC maintains an open membership policy where artists of all types, as well as art lovers, are welcome to be a part of the organization.
Each year, SAC is proud to present the Rosemary Benavides Williams Student Art Scholarship to college-bound high school students planning to major in the field of visual arts.
The SAC hosts three events in the beautiful Suwanee Town Center: Arts in the Park, Jazz Festival, and Suwanee Classic Car Show. Both events draw large audiences and the proceeds fund the student art scholarships and SAC art initiatives.
In 2016, the Suwanee Arts Center opened Suwanee’s first Center for the Arts in Suwanee Town Center. Arts and cultural activities are at the heart of a community. The SAC helps to make Suwanee a more attractive place to live while contributing to the ongoing knowledge within our community, bringing the area to life.
The SAC welcomes volunteers and donations at any time. Please contact us below to inquire about volunteer opportunities with us!
COME SEE HIS WORK ON DISPLAY THROUGH OCTOBER 31!
I started my photography journey at a young age with a Kodak Instamatic and my Dad's Kodak 120 film camera, whilst also learning from my older sibling who was an Emmy Award winning professional photographer. At fourteen years old I bought my own 35mm camera. I rolled, shot, and developed the film myself, which deeply connected me to my work. Previously I have done commercial work, including product promotion, food, actors, musicians, and other various artists. I currently teach photography at the Suwanee Arts Center and I sell prints and complete commission work under Chris Anderson Photography, Inc.
Through my start with film, I learned patience, as well as balance of the place between light and dark. Traveling has opened my eyes and my mind to different people, art, architecture, cities, mountains, and vast open spaces. I have traveled to over 20 countries, always ready for the next adventure. I believe in the importance of experiencing what is around me mindfully and intentionally. Often, I will return with my camera with a deliberate vision. My vision for photography is fine art landscapes, night skies, and cities at night. I am also working on a multi-year project with ballerinas titled: "Dancers in the Woods".
