The Suwanee Arts Center (SAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit art organization dedicated to promoting the appreciation of local art through exhibition, festivals and other arts education. Based in Suwanee, Georgia, the SAC maintains an open membership policy where artists of all types, as well as art lovers, are welcome to be a part of the organization.
Each year, SAC is proud to present the Rosemary Benavides Williams Student Art Scholarship to college-bound high school students planning to major in the field of visual arts.
The SAC hosts three events in the beautiful Suwanee Town Center: Arts in the Park, Jazz Festival, and Suwanee Classic Car Show. Both events draw large audiences and the proceeds fund the student art scholarships and SAC art initiatives.
In 2016, the Suwanee Arts Center opened Suwanee’s first Center for the Arts in Suwanee Town Center. Arts and cultural activities are at the heart of a community. The SAC helps to make Suwanee a more attractive place to live while contributing to the ongoing knowledge within our community, bringing the area to life.
The SAC welcomes volunteers and donations at any time. Please contact us below to inquire about volunteer opportunities with us!
COME SEE HER WORK ON DISPLAY THROUGH DECEMBER 3RD!
Life is color! Sandra's love for art began when she was about eight years old in St. Louis, Missouri, where she spent most of her life. Surrounded by a large and loving supportive family, she began her journey with oil paint-by-number kits that she loved. Since then, she's raised two daughters and has four grand-children and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Through all of this, she realized that happiness was sharing her art with others. Sandra's favorite medium is oil, but she also enjoys painting with watercolor for its' transparent, delicate beauty. Her twenty plus year career in Student Affairs at Webster University provided opportunities to take art classes and enhance her skills. Her travels to forty-eight of the fifty states with her husband, inspired her to continue her love of painting florals, still-life, and landscapes. Relocating to Atlanta with her husband in 2015 to be closer to family brought on new inspiration. Our nation is beautiful and those travels gave her not only the joy of seeing this wonderful country, but it also helped put her visualizations on canvas. Sandra also enjoys working with pottery, sewing, gardening, and designing floral arrangements. Her favorite creative expression is and will always be painting.
