Photography Exhibition Entry Requirements

 

The Suwanee Arts Center is proud to announce its 8th Annual Photography Exhibit. 

 

CRITERIA: OPEN THEME

  • Images must be taken by the artist and processed by the artist from original film negative or digital image 

  • The artist must use archival ink printed paper, high quality metal/aluminum, acrylic, and/or canvas will be accepted. 

  • Photographers are required to disclose both their creative and printing processes upon request.  Raw files may be requested.

  • Images must not violate any copyright laws.

  • Artwork must be for sale. SAC retains 30% commission of all works sold during the exhibit.                                           

  • Sold works may not be removed from the gallery prior to the close of exhibit.

Categories of Submission:

The Entries presented for judging must be photographic in origin (taken with a camera).  This year we will offer judging in two categories:

Photographic - Open Category and Creative - Open Category

​

Photographic Category Requirements:

ALL aspects must be photographed by the artist.  This includes composite photographs.  Limited post processing is acceptable (Highlights, Shadows, Blacks, Whites, Contrast, Levels, and minor touching up i.e. removing dust spots; not adding in an element not captured in the photographing process). Raw files may be requested.

Creative Category Requirements:

Photos must be original. There are no restrictions on post-production except that any post-production must be the work of the entrant. You cannot have someone else edit or work on the image for you. 


 

ENTRY FEES
Entry fee is $35.00 (for SAC members, non-refundable) entitles Member to submit three photographs  

$45.00 (for non-SAC members, non-refundable) entitles Non-Member to submit three photographs

$15.00 (Emerging Artist ages 16-19) 
 

HOW TO APPLY AND FORMATTING YOUR FILE
You may enter photographs that meet the above criteria. To enter Exhibit, upload photo/s and entry fee online by clicking the button at the top of the page. 

  • Export images as jpg. 

  • Resize to maximum quality but file size not larger than 2MB(2000KB). Click HERE for instructions on how to resize images.

  • VERY IMPORTANT: Name your file(s). Artist name - Title of artwork (with spaces between words) Failure to follow exactly as stated above may disqualify your work.

  • You will receive an email from suwaneeartscenter.org confirming your submission has been processed. 

  • You will be notified by email if your work has been accepted.


 

 

If Accepted:

  • All work must be either framed, gallery wrapped canvas 1 1/4" to 1 1/2", or metal/aluminum. Acrylic glazing is preferred for framed work.

  • Wired to hang (no saw tooth hangers), this includes metal prints. Work not ready to hang may be rejected.

  • Maximum size no larger than 40” in either dimension.

Commission

 

Artwork must be for sale. Suwanee Arts Center retains 30% commission of all works sold during the exhibition and 90 days after the exhibit ends, if still in the art center gallery. SAC will collect and pay all required Georgia state taxes on items sold. 

 

Images of works may be used for documentation, education, SAC marketing, social media.

 

Artwork Preparation

All accepted photos must be delivered to Suwanee Arts Center with legible identification label affixed. Label must include:

  • Photographer’s name, 

  • Contact Information (phone and/or email address)

  • Title

  • Price


Suwanee Arts Center reserves the right to refuse any submitted work which is deemed inappropriate, offensive, or improperly presented.

AWARDS

This exhibit will be judged by David Clifton-Strawn, executive director of the Atlanta Photography Group (APG).  More information about David can be found at www.DavidCliftonStrawn.com.

Ribbons and sponsored cash prizes will be awarded to Overall Best in Show, then 1st,  2nd, 3rd, for each category (Photographic and Creative). Ribbons will also be awarded to Honorable Mention, Emerging Artist, and People Choice (Visit Suwanee Arts Center to vote for your favorite photo - People's Choice awarded at end of Exhibit).
 
INSURANCE AND LIABILITY

Each photographer is responsible for insurance of his or her own photography. While utmost care will be taken while photos are exhibited in the Suwanee Arts Center (SAC), SAC and its members or anyone working on the exhibition, assumes no responsibility for any damage to the photos during delivery, installation and de-installation.  SAC will not be liable for photography not claimed after specified pick-up dates and time.
 
PUBLICITY

Images of works may be used for Suwanee Arts Center marketing and publicity purposes.

PROSPECTUS CHECK LIST & EVENT CALENDAR

Online Submission Deadline: uploaded images and payment must be received by 11:59 PM.
 
Tueesday, September 19

Notifications emailed to accepted photographers.
 
Tuesday and Wednesday September 26-27

Photography hand delivered to Suwanee Arts Center between 11:00 - 5:00 PM

Arrangements can be made to accept artwork outside of listed times. 

If mailing, please be sure artwork arrives by the 27th of September.
