Our classes offer an intimate, exceptional learning experience in an inspiring setting with locally and nationally recognized artists and educators.

The Suwanee Arts Center provides an all-around curriculum from novice to advanced levels, and it extends maximum accessibility in a broad range of programs that strive to develop the individual's artistic interests and abilities.

Suwanee Arts Center Artists - We would like to offer a special workshop exclusively for you. A workshop dedicated to promoting your ARTWORK through social media and expanding your presence in the art world. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore proper and inexpensive methods to introduce the 'world' to your talents and skills as an Artist. We believe this workshop will assist in promoting your artwork and also establish a link to connect your art with the community.

This specifically designed workshop for our Artists will offer guidance in establishing/editing a dedicated Artist page on Facebook and Instagram. Group instruction will be given through Zoom with the option of a one-on-one personalized ZOOM session as a follow-up to the workshop. Topics will include: setting up the accounts, coordinating the accounts, notifications, posting, engaging, following, etiquette, links, and promoting. The subject and topics are designed to assist in promoting a dedicated account for your artwork and a vehicle using social media to create a platform to increase sales and recognition of your artwork.

(June through August)

This blended learning class will consist of six 2-hour group zoom classes, three 1-hour 1x1 private zoom sessions, two 3-hour in person outdoor field trips at Suwanee Town Center, and it will culminate in a one-week gallery display at the Suwanee Arts Center Gallery.  We will also have a virtual (Zoom) review of the students’ work and an opportunity for the students to talk about their work.  This is 24 hours of instruction plus the gallery show and virtual review.

We will walk through creating images focusing on both the basic technical aspects of your camera and composition to learn how to create images that you want as opposed to disappointing snapshots.  We will focus on using aperture, shutter speed, and settings on your camera as well as composition techniques that will lead to creative photography. This class is for digital (DSLR or mirrorless) cameras with interchangeable lenses (It is not necessary to have more than one lens, but it is nice if you have two prime lenses or a zoom) and manual controls (the ability to manually set your aperture, shutter speed, and ISO).  Having the ability to set aperture or shutter priority and exposure compensation is a plus as well.

The group (Zoom) instruction will include teaching, review of selected assignment work, class discussions, and new assignments.  The individual 1x1 private Zoom sessions will give you time to focus on any areas where you need additional help, review work and assignments, and can also be used to make up any missed group sessions. The two field trips will be focused opportunities to do fun assignments and to get immediate feedback.  We will follow CDC and local pandemic protocols to protect or students and staff.  The culmination of this class will be displaying some of your work developed in the class over the summer.  We will have a “print” show in September (TBA) and we can even print your images through a professional lab at reasonable prices, so you don’t have to worry about finding quality printers and delivering prints to the gallery.  Print show means that we do not have a requirement for the prints to be framed as required for our normal exhibitions.  The print exhibition will be up for a week in the Suwanee Arts Center gallery.  We will have an instructor's talk as well as students can be on hand to talk about their work and the class. We will follow the appropriate protocols in place at the time of the show.
