Our classes offer an intimate, exceptional learning experience in an inspiring setting with locally and nationally recognized artists and educators.

The Suwanee Arts Center provides an all-around curriculum from novice to advanced levels, and it extends maximum accessibility in a broad range of programs that strive to develop the individual's artistic interests and abilities.

PLEASE NOTE: The Suwanee Arts Center adheres to covid-19 

safety regulations and guidelines. There will be limited seating 

in classroom due to social distancing. Masks will be required. All

necessary precautions will be taken to ensure your class is safe

and enjoyable. 

ACRYLIC PAINTING WORKSHOP
ABSTRACT FIGURES IN ACRYLICS - Adult

Suwanee Arts Center is offering a weekend painting workshop. Bring your own painting supplies and your lunch and let's have some fun getting creative in this workshop!

Learn how to give your figure painting a fresh colorful look with new and exciting acrylic painting techniques in Summer Lowe's unique style. She'll show you how to select colors, develop techniques, and build layers of colors to create a balanced abstract composition. A full list of supplies to bring will be sent upon registration.

CALLIGRAPHY WRITING CLASS - Canceled

Learn to write in calligraphy using brush pens. You will learn the basic skills and strokes of Copperplate Calligraphy. Instruction will include how to make gift tags, notecards, envelopes, and signs.

Learn the basics - throwing bowls, mugs, and cylinders. Glaze your own creations.

CLAY WORKSHOP: SLAB PUMPKIN - Adult

 

Create your Fall Harvest Pumpkin in clay, building a segmented pumpkin, leaves, and stem for a beautiful Harvest look on your table. This is a 2 session workshop: First day to create the clay piece and second day to glaze the pottery piece.

CLAY WORKSHOP: WHIMISICAL BELLS - Adult

 

Create small whimsical bells in clay with lots of texture, beads, and hanging twine. This is a 2 session workshop: First day to create the clay piece and second day to glaze the pottery pieces.

PRINTMAKING MINI-SERIES - AGES 6-12

 

During this 4-class mini-series class, children will explore mark making, color theory, layering, and creating monoprints with gelli plate printmaking. We'll think like artists and problem solve using found objects and non-traditional tools in our printing and then we will explore different kinds of shapes to create collages with the papers and prints we create.

WATERCOLOR CLASS - Adults

 

A watercolor class for beginner to intermediate painters, learning the unique beauty of watercolor, paint handling, light and shadow techniques, and touch briefly on composition for the most appealing painting that will please you and impress viewers. Class instruction and exercises are designed to improve your competence and confidence.

Dates: Wednesdays, October 13, 20, 27 and November 3

GOUACHE RESIST PRINTING - Grades 6-8 or ages 11-14

 

Create a 2-D painting using an exciting technique called gouache/ink resist. The result will look similar to block printing, as the black ink will adhere in places. Gouache paint is used to repel the ink in other places. Come try it and you will be hooked! (your art supply kit will include enough supplies to create more at home.)

PHOTO EDITING IN ADOBE LIGHTROOM BEGINNER
Adults

This ZOOM class will focus primarily on Lightroom to include understanding, of post-processing, image file organization, keywords and metadata, selecting images, image search, collections, file sharing, camera raw, basic editing features, batch editing, slide shows, exporting, and printing. We will also cover a few Photoshop basics. There will be assignments between classes and the instructor will use the student images for demos. Students will be required to have the latest version of Adobe Lightroom. ​

PHOTOGRAPHY - iPHONE/SMARTPHONE WORKSHOP
ages 16+

Capture quick photos and up your photocomposition with this photography session using your iPhone/Smartphone. Everyone uses their phone to take memories of family, places, things to remember - now make those photos better!

PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP - BEGINNER
Adults

Making your photos better through a hands-on camera class with a professional photographer. Explore the elements of photography, instruction through different types of composition, assessment, light effects, subject focus, etc.

PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY - WORKSHOP
Adults

Portrait photography is often considered an art form that involves capturing your subject or group’s facial expressions, personality, or mood using composition. This hands-on class will cover the highlights of portrait photography to include posing, the use of natural lighting, props, and basic camera settings. ​Students must have a working knowledge of their camera. Digital camera preferred. Class will include a model as our subject.

CLASS & REGISTRATION POLICIES

REGISTRATION

Classes/camps are filled on a first-come, first served basis.

Please note that no student’s space will be held without FULL PAYMENT of class fees.

Credit card payments accepted through registration on website or by calling 678-878-2818.

CANCELLATIONS

The Suwanee Arts Center reserves the right to cancel any class or camp due to insufficient enrollment or inclement weather. Full refunds are issued for cancelled classes. We make every effort to notify students of postponements and cancellations at least 24 hours before the first scheduled class. Dates and times are subject to change as necessary.

The Suwanee Arts Center may elect to postpone a class in order to accept additional registrations to meet minimum enrollment requirements.

REFUNDS

To withdraw from a class and receive a refund, the request must be made at least 7 days prior to the first day of your class/camp.

ABSENTEE POLICY

Make-up classes and credit for missed classes are different for each class. Please see instructor for details.

CLASSES & CAMP POLICIES

We do not provide supervision of children before or after classes. We ask that you arrive promptly to all programs and do not leave children unattended. For parents who are late picking-up their child, Suwanee Arts Center will charge a $1.00 per minute late fee. The Suwanee Arts Center reserves the right to substitute instructors when necessary.

Classes may be canceled due to inclement weather or Gwinnett County Public School weather/holiday closings.
